Patients Fasting No food or drink (except water in small amounts) for twelve hours prior to the time blood is drawn for the following tests.  Patients who are non-fasting will be asked to return fasting.

  • Folate (folic acid)
  • Glucose (as individual test)
  • Glucose tolerance test
  • Growth hormone
  • Iron (**also requires early a.m. draw due to diurnal variation**)
  • Lactose tolerance test
  • Lipid profile
  • Triglycerides (as individual test)
  • Vitamin B12

Ideally, patient should be fasting for the following tests; but we will perform testing on a non-fasting patient with a comment noting their non-fasting status to be included as part of the final report:

  • Basic metabolic panel
  • Comprehensive metabolic panel

  Salivary Cortisol
  Stool for Occult Blood (Hemoccult)
  Stool for Culture & Sensitivity
  Stool for Ova & Parasites
  Stool for C. Difficile Toxin
